I was commissioned to design a fitness app targeted at individuals with demanding, fast-paced lifestyles. The goal was to create, with the help of AI, short but effective workouts, ranging from 10 to 25 minutes, that could seamlessly integrate into even the busiest schedules.

My role involved researching user needs, defining user flows, and crafting a clean, intuitive interface that minimized friction and encouraged consistency.

The final product focuses on accessibility, personalization, and motivation. Helping users stay active without disrupting their daily routines.

Problem

"I would love to go to the gym again, but I don't have time nor do I know how I can fit it in every week"

Interviewed insight

Adults who want to go but feel “too busy” report no actual gym time, around 47% of interviewed cited lack of time as a barrier to exercise. From the ones that actually go to the gym, we discovered that people spent on average of 1.62hrs and quarter of them (26.1%) said that it was too much time.

Common painpoints

Lack of time

Most users can't find 2+ hours a day to exercise, commute to the gym, and shower afterward.

Too expensive

Gym memberships and personal trainers are too expensive, especially when users can't fully utilize them.

Lack of motivation

Starting with long workouts can be intimidating and demotivating for those looking to get back into fitness.

Solution

Key points

  • Customizable intensity & goals
  • Gamified experience

Design principles

  • Easy to read from distance
  • Fully customizable
  • Easy to navigate during workout

We designed the app to be simple and clean, using a striking vibrant green on a dark background for strong visual contrast.

A carefully chosen font pairing ensures readability across all screens. Our final design was guided by three clear principles that shaped every decision.

Learnings and takeaways

Users expressed strong interest in the concept , seeing it as an affordable yet effective alternative to the gym, especial ly valuable for those facing barriers like time constraints, cost , or motivation.

We initially assumed the app would primarily appeal to users over 35, but interviews revealed strong interest from younger users as well, highlighting the importance of validating assumptions through user research.
